Idaho Sound Beginnings Program - Dhw

Infants are unable to communicate if they experience hearing difficulties, which is why Idaho Sound Beginnings focuses on ensuring that all newborns in Idaho undergo hearing screenings. From the moment of birth, children start to listen, learn, and interact, and even minor hearing impairments can result in significant delays in their language and learning abilities. All birthing hospitals in Idaho conduct newborn hearing screenings prior to the baby's discharge. For those born outside of a hospital, screenings are available through the local Infant Toddler program.
