The Boise National Forest, covering 2,612,000 acres, is located to the north and east of Boise, Idaho. The terrain features elevations ranging from 2,600 to 9,800 feet, shaped by geological processes such as uplifting, faulting, and stream erosion. Most of the area is part of the Idaho Batholith, a significant and highly erodible geological structure.
