About this resource

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-239-5208, and the Swine Flu Hotline for Region 6 is available at 208-234-5888. Idaho consists of seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and other local and state agencies. Each district has a health board appointed by county commissioners and operates independently from state agencies. They cater to local needs, offering diverse services that differ by district, including community health nursing, home health services, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, often through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the latest services and information, contact your nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a comprehensive statewide strategy for bioterrorism and public health emergencies. Environmental Health programs address the intersection of human health with the environment and include services like daycare regulations, epidemiology, food establishment permits, indoor air quality assessments, lead health programs, and solid waste management. Land Development programs cover critical material regulations, public water systems, and septic evaluations. Family Planning services offer education, counseling, pregnancy testing, and various birth control methods. Immunizations for children are provided at low or no cost, with adult vaccines also available. The Immunization Registry helps track vaccination history. The WIC program supports women, infants, and children with healthy foods, health screenings, nutrition classes, and breastfeeding assistance. The Women's Health Check program offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance coverage. For more information and appointments, please call.
