Environmental Health initiatives focus on the interaction between human health and the physical environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food and waterborne illnesses), food establishment permits, indoor air quality (radon), lead health programs, methamphetamine labs, public pools, and solid waste management. Land Development programs address critical materials regulation, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventory, subdivision reviews, and subsurface sewage evaluations. The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that tracks immunizations for individuals and their healthcare providers. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program offers healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community referrals, individual counseling with dietitians, and breastfeeding support for eligible pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five. The Women's Health Check program provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for women without insurance coverage for these tests, who meet income guidelines, and fall within specific age ranges or health conditions.
