MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS PHONE # 208-737-5981DISTRICT OFFICE: The seven health districts in Idaho work in partnership with the Department of Health and Welfare along with several state and local organizations. Each district has its own board of health appointed by county commissioners and operates independently from state agencies. They cater to local demands, offering a variety of services that differ from one district to another. These services can include community health nursing, home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, many of which are provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about available services in your area, contact your nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for preparing for and responding to bioterrorism and other public health crises. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment. Contact the local health department to determine which specific vaccines are required for travel. Adult vaccines, including tetanus and diphtheria (Td) boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza may also be offered.
