About this resource

For inquiries, contact the MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS at 208-533-3145. Idaho comprises seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare, along with various state and local organizations. Each district has a health board appointed by county commissioners and operates independently of state agencies. The services offered can differ by district, addressing local health needs through programs such as community health nursing, home health care, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition initiatives. Many of these services are facilitated through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For up-to-date information on available services in your area, reach out to your local District Health Department. Additionally, the Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and other public health entities to develop a comprehensive statewide strategy for responding to bioterrorism and public health emergencies. Environmental Health programs tackle issues related to human health and the environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology, food establishment inspections, indoor air quality, and solid waste management. Family Planning services include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, and various birth control methods. Immunization clinics provide low-cost or free vaccinations for children and adults, while the Immunization Registry helps track vaccination history. The WIC program offers nutritional support to women, infants, and children, including healthy food vouchers and health screenings. The Women's Health Check program provides free cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance. For general inquiries, including locations and appointments, please call.
