This program offers short-term assistance to individuals and families in need as they work towards becoming self-sufficient. It can help with either a security deposit or the first month's rent, but not both. Additionally, it takes responsibility for financing and coordinating burials for Columbia County residents who pass away without financial resources or family to manage burial arrangements. Family Assistance (FA) provides financial support to families with children, with cash benefits capped at five years per recipient's lifetime. After this period, if an adult is disabled and unable to work, they may continue receiving support or be directed to apply for Safety Net Assistance (SNA). SNA offers funds for basic living costs to single adults and childless couples, or families who have exhausted their FA benefits, with a limit of two years of cash support. After two years, a non-cash voucher system for Safety Net Assistance is available. Emergency Temporary Assistance through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) aids those in crisis situations, such as evictions, moving costs, utility shutoffs, and diversion payments to help individuals avoid needing ongoing support. It's important to note that individuals do not have to be on public assistance to qualify for Emergency Temporary Assistance.
