Health Care For Homeless Veterans - Veterans Affairs

Community Resource

Serves: Buffalo, Erie County

About this resource

This drop-in center caters to homeless veterans by linking them to VA services and aiding in their search for housing. It focuses on helping both homeless and at-risk veterans navigate obstacles that hinder their access to health services. Facilities include a shower for veterans, and outreach efforts extend to those in shelters, soup kitchens, and on the streets. Outreach workers assist in determining eligibility for VA medical services and pensions, create suitable treatment plans, and facilitate community placements. Veterans eligible for VA Healthcare can inquire about availability and screening for VA-funded emergency shelters, transitional housing, and the HUD Section 8 voucher program. A primary care clinic is available on Tuesday mornings by appointment. The intake process involves an interview with on-site staff who will evaluate needs and refer individuals to VA and community resources as necessary. Services are provided at no cost.
