This program delivers temporary support to individuals and families aiming for self-sufficiency. It can help with either a security deposit or the first month's rent, but not both simultaneously. It also takes responsibility for covering and organizing burials for Greene County residents who pass away without financial resources or family to handle the arrangements. The Family Assistance (FA) program offers financial aid to families with children, with cash benefits capped at five years over a recipient's lifetime. After this duration, cases may continue receiving aid if an adult is disabled and unable to work, or they may need to seek help through the Safety Net category. Safety Net Assistance (SNA) provides funds for essential living costs for single adults and couples without children, or families who have exhausted their five-year FA limit. Cash benefits under SNA are restricted to two years in a recipient's lifetime, after which a non-cash voucher system takes over. Emergency Temporary Assistance, through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA), addresses urgent situations like evictions, moving costs, utility shutoffs, food expenses, and diversion payments to prevent the need for long-term assistance. Notably, individuals do not have to be on public assistance to qualify for Emergency Temporary Assistance.
