This initiative offers short-term aid to individuals and families as they aim for self-sufficiency. It can help with either a security deposit or the initial month's rent, but not both at the same time. Additionally, it is responsible for funding and coordinating burials for Montgomery County residents who pass away without financial resources or family to manage burial arrangements. Family Assistance (FA) offers monetary support for families with children, with cash benefits capped at five years over a recipient's lifetime. After this period, those who are disabled and unable to work may still qualify for continued benefits or may need to seek help through the Safety Net category. Safety Net Assistance (SNA) provides financial support for basic living costs to single adults and childless couples, or families that have exhausted their five-year FA limit. Cash benefits under SNA are limited to two years, after which a non-cash voucher system is implemented. Emergency Temporary Assistance through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) is available for crisis situations such as evictions, moving costs, utility shutoffs, and diversion payments to help individuals avoid ongoing assistance needs. It's important to note that individuals do not need to be receiving public assistance to qualify for Emergency Temporary Assistance.
