This program provides financial support to assist low-income households in managing their home energy expenses. Regular Benefits can vary from $20 to $500, influenced by factors such as income, age of household members, energy costs, and living conditions. Generally, this is a one-time benefit available during the program year. Emergency Benefits are offered to individuals eligible for HEAP facing energy-related crises, such as power shutoffs or critically low fuel supplies. Households must pass a resource assessment, and benefit amounts can differ. Additionally, Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement Benefits are available for fixing or replacing essential heating systems. Cooling Assistance Benefits can help purchase and install air conditioning units or fans for those who have received a regular benefit exceeding $21 and have a medical condition worsened by heat. Clean and Tune Benefits are provided to maintain the primary heating equipment, which may include chimney cleaning, minor repairs, and the installation of safety devices, with costs covered up to $400.
