Child Care Council Of Nassau

This initiative provides complimentary child care resources and referrals for parents or guardians seeking child care, along with an overview of available options, consumer education, and details on financial assistance. Families can access the Council's services via phone, the internet through the Council's website, email, mail, fax, or in person to find the most suitable child care options. Low-income parents receive information on eligibility for child care subsidies from the Nassau County Department of Social Services (NC DSS), as well as updates from a child care provider database regarding sliding scales, scholarships, and multi-child discounts at different facilities. Each parent who contacts the Council is provided with information on Early Intervention services and/or the Early Childhood Direction Center for children with special needs, along with current financial resources such as Earned Income Tax Credits, Child and Dependent Care Credits, and Child Health Plus, as well as referrals for various family-related issues (e.g., legal, domestic violence, mental health, child abuse, etc.).
