About this resource
The initiative includes multiple programs designed to educate the African-American community regarding HIV infections and to encourage behaviors that help decrease the rate of these infections. Among the offerings are the SISTA (Sisters Informing Sisters About Topics on AIDS) Intervention, Peer Program and Outreach, and Health Communication/Public Information (HCPI). Additionally, it coordinates multi-agency case management, provides HIV counseling and testing, and shares information about related support services. The SISTA Intervention consists of five two-hour sessions that allow participants to engage in role-playing, discuss pertinent topics, and enhance their self-esteem.
