Nicholas Center

Delivers community, home, school, or site-based services to residents of the Town of Hempstead who have autism, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, ranging from ages 5 to adult. The initiative focuses on helping participants lead fulfilling lives by tackling individual challenges and fostering inclusion within the Port Washington community. It includes daily and after-school programs designed to meet educational, behavioral, and social needs. The program offers supervision, training for parents and staff, and consultation for students aged 5 and older. Additionally, it features two summer sessions with diverse programs emphasizing fitness, wellness, sports, independent living skills, communication, social skills, prevocational training, work discovery courses, and habilitation services (HCBS Waiver Services/OPWDD). A Speakers Bureau is also available, and the agency acts as a provider for the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities ACCES_VR and local school districts.
