This program delivers temporary support to individuals and families in need as they aim for self-sufficiency. It can cover either a security deposit or the first month's rent, but not both simultaneously. Family Assistance (FA) offers financial aid specifically for families with children, with cash benefits capped at five years over a recipient's lifetime. After this period, if an adult in the family is disabled and unable to work, they may still receive benefits or may need to seek help through the Safety Net category. Safety Net Assistance (SNA) offers financial support for essential living costs to single adults and couples without children, or families that have exhausted their five-year FA limit, with cash benefits limited to two years. After two years, recipients can access a non-cash Safety Net Assistance voucher system. Emergency Temporary Assistance is available through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) for urgent situations like evictions, moving costs, utility shutoffs, and diversion payments to prevent ongoing assistance needs. It's important to note that individuals do not need to be on public assistance to qualify for Emergency Temporary Assistance.
