Riverhead Correctional Facility

This college internship program is aimed at students who are passionate about law enforcement or are currently studying criminal justice. It offers hands-on experience across various units within our agency, including engaging visits to the Marine Bureau, Firearms, and K9 units. Interns will also observe collaboration among different agencies by visiting units operated by the Suffolk County Police Department, the Office of the Medical Examiner, and the Suffolk County Legislature. They will tour correctional facilities, the firearms range, the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, the Suffolk County Crime Lab, the Warrant Squad, and the Domestic Violence Bureau. These experiences allow students to work closely with officers, gaining valuable insights and aiding them in making informed career decisions in law enforcement. The Internship Program is available during the spring, summer, and fall semesters, with the spring and fall lasting 16 weeks and the summer lasting 13 weeks.
