About this resource
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to support qualifying households in addressing their energy requirements. Eligible participants may receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and might also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if they are at risk of depleting their fuel supply or having their utility services disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency HEAP benefits are set to launch on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, while the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also opened on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to be available starting April 15, 2025.

Who can use this
- Regular HEAP is available for low-income families, seniors aged 60 and older, and individuals with permanent disabilities receiving Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for those facing urgent situations.
