Greater Ithaca Activities Center (Giac)

H.E.T.P. equips participants to be job-ready in the hospitality sector and office administration. They undergo more than 60 hours of training covering skills and certifications relevant to these fields. Additionally, participants can receive as much as 120 hours of practical training and guidance. The program includes training and certifications in areas such as Resume Workshops, Mock Interview Coaching, Food/Beverage Certification (on a case-by-case basis), Customer Service Training, Computer Skills Classes, Business Tours, Etiquette Training, Conflict Resolution, Emotional Intelligence, and transferable skills for other professions. Benefits of joining include financial support for interview attire and job-related clothing, such as Non-Slip Shoes, Slacks, and Blazers, as well as funding for haircuts to help participants present well at interviews. Childcare assistance is also provided to remove barriers to attendance, along with bus passes for daily class access.
