About this resource
This initiative provides Supported and Vocational Employment services tailored for individuals with disabilities. The Pathway to Employment component helps identify a person's skills, interests, and abilities. The program lasts either 278 hours or 365 days, requiring participants to engage in at least two vocational activities and complete three short vocational experiences. The Supported Employment (SEMP) aspect offers necessary assistance for individuals to secure and sustain paid jobs in the community at or above minimum wage. Typically, individuals with ID/DD move to SEMP after receiving supported employment services through the NYS Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) and may need minimal job coaching to maintain their roles. Some participants may also transition from programs providing intensive training through OPWDD.
