About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to families with children who are experiencing low income, assisting them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash support aims to cover fundamental necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, and utility costs. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which focuses on helping individuals earn their high school diploma or GED, along with providing job readiness and life skills training.
Intake Process: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submission, the local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview. Applicants can also reach out to the local DHS office to schedule their interview. It is important to note that DHS staff cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
