About this resource
Habitat for Humanity enables families to construct and purchase their own homes, offering them at no profit while requiring them to contribute labor in the form of sweat equity.

Fees: Families must cover a closing fee of up to $4,000. There is no down payment required for closing costs, and a 0%-interest mortgage (0% APR) is provided. The duration of the mortgage is adjusted based on income, ensuring that the monthly payment (including taxes, insurance, and any applicable condo fees) does not exceed 30% of the homeowner’s gross monthly income at the time of sale.
Who can use this
- Families living in inadequate housing must: 1) adhere to income requirements 2) commit to 500 hours of sweat equity in construction 3) be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents 4) not have owned a home in the last 3 years 5) demonstrate the ability to afford mortgage payments (consistent income and good credit history).
