About this resource

Head Start services focus on preparing children for school by enhancing their social and cognitive skills within a classroom environment, while also providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and additional services to both children and their families. Emphasis is placed on parental involvement, offering services such as goal setting, parenting classes, and networking opportunities for parents.

Intake Procedure: For further information, please call or visit the website; applications can be downloaded online.

Travel/Location: The services are situated within the same complex as Coos Health and Wellness and Advanced Health.

Fees: There are no fees associated with the services.

Who can use this

  • Families with children aged 3-5, particularly those with incomes at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, are eligible. Additionally, children in foster care, homeless children, and those from families receiving public assistance are eligible regardless of income, while families with higher incomes may also qualify based on specific needs, with priority given to those with greater needs.

Documents you may need

  • -Copy of child's birth certificate and/or proof of pregnancy -Proof of last year's income (for all parents in the home), -Proof of current year's income (for all parents in the home) and/or copy of a pay stub, a letter from employer, or a letter from DHS or unemployment office with verification of job training
