About this resource

The Housing Choice Voucher program (also known as Section 8 Tenant-Based Rental Assistance) offers direct rental subsidy payments for qualified families and individuals to private landlords. In contrast, the Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance program delivers rental support for eligible families or individuals but is linked to specific multifamily housing developments. The subsidies associated with project-based assistance remain with the designated development; thus, if a tenant moves out, the subsidy does not follow them. For complaints regarding Section 8, individuals can reach out through designated channels.

Intake Procedure: For more details, contact via phone or visit the website. Initial applications for the waitlist can be found online.

Fees: Under the Housing Choice Vouchers, tenants must contribute at least 30% of their income towards rent, with the possibility of paying up to 40% depending on the chosen unit. For Project-Based Assistance, tenants are also required to pay a minimum of 30% of their income for rent.
