About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to low-income families with children, supporting their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover fundamental needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to enroll in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in achieving a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.
Application Process: Interested individuals can apply online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submitting the application, the local DHS office will contact the applicant to arrange an in-person or phone interview. Applicants can also reach out to the local DHS office to schedule their interview. It is important to note that DHS workers cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
