SHIBA provides trained volunteers who educate, assist, and advocate for individuals with Medicare. These volunteers help clients comprehend their health insurance rights and options, enabling them to make well-informed choices. Additionally, SHIBA volunteers can offer insights into the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program, which is a Medicaid initiative that aids Medicare recipients in covering their medical expenses.

Travel/Location: Located in downtown Portland on SW Oak Street between 4th and 5th Avenues, near the prominent 'big pink' bank tower. Accessible via the TriMet Transit Mall, with multiple bus lines and MAX Yellow and Green Lines nearby: just a half block for southbound services and one and a half blocks for northbound services. The Oak Street entrance to the building, the office, and restrooms are equipped with door opener buttons. An assistive listening device is available for in-office consultations.
