About this resource
This eight-week program provides culturally relevant training tailored for Native American parents as well as non-Native American foster parents caring for Native American children. The classes delve into the values and beliefs inherent in traditional Native American child-rearing practices and integrate those principles with contemporary parenting skills. Participants are offered childcare and meals. The Positive Indian Parenting program was created by the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) and is acknowledged by DHS as fulfilling foster parent certification training requirements.
