The Employment Related Day Care program (ERDC) provides support to families who are employed, enrolled in school, or receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to help cover the costs of child care, which includes registration fees.
Application Process: Families can apply online, via phone, or in person at a local ODHS Self-Sufficiency Branch Office. Additional details and the income chart can be found on the website.
Costs: ERDC operates as a subsidy program, meaning that while it helps with child care expenses, many families are still responsible for a portion of the costs known as a copayment (copay). The copay is determined based on the family's size and income.
Who can use this
- Eligibility for this program includes families that: -Reside in Oregon -Are working, attending school, or receiving TANF -In a two-parent household, both parents must be employed or in school (this does not apply to TANF recipients) -Certain exceptions exist for two-parent families if one parent is unable to provide care due to medical or mental health issues, or if state supervision is required -Require child care to maintain employment, education, or family well-being activities -Have a child who is: -13 years old or younger needing care, or -Ages 13-17 needing care due to specific circumstances -Meet income thresholds, with initial limits set at 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and ongoing/exit limits at 250% FPL.
