About this resource

This initiative provides financial aid to low-income families with children, helping them work towards achieving self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which supports individuals in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, as well as enhancing job readiness and life skills.

Intake Procedure: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office. After submission: - The local ODHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview. - Applicants can also initiate contact with the local ODHS office to arrange the interview. - ODHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

  • Eligible families must reside in Oregon, have minimal income and resources, and the applicant must be a parent or caregiver for a child under 18, pregnant, or a head of household under 18; US citizenship or qualified non-citizen status is required.

Documents you may need

  • Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
