About this resource

This initiative provides financial support to families with children who have low incomes, assisting them in their journey towards self-sufficiency. The cash aid is designed to cover essential needs like food, clothing, housing, and utilities. Recipients of TANF may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which aids in obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and life skills training.

Intake Process: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office. After submitting an application: - The local ODHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview - Applicants can also initiate contact with the local ODHS office to arrange the interview - ODHS representatives are unable to leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

  • Eligible families must reside in Oregon, have minimal income and resources, and the applicant must be a parent or caregiver of a child under 18, pregnant, or a young head of household.

Documents you may need

  • Proof of ID, proof of income, Social Security numbers (SSN) for all members of the family who want benefits, and proof of immigration status (if applicable). Applicants who have trouble obtaining proof of income or other documents can have an eligibility worker help them obtain income verification and other needed information
