Community Mediation Services For Polk County
Community Resource
About this resource
Skilled mediators work to resolve conflicts by leveraging their expertise in various areas such as interpersonal disagreements, family mediation (including parent/teen issues and runaways), adjustments to parenting plans, neighborhood conflicts (like barking dogs and property disputes), landlord/tenant issues, business mediation, and victim/offender situations. They also conduct workshops, public lectures, and discussions on mediation techniques, as well as provide coaching for individuals facing conflicts. Meetings can be arranged in the client's community to accommodate transportation challenges. Please note that they do not handle cases involving domestic violence.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals should call or email for further details.
Travel/Location: In Dallas, turn south onto Fir Villa Road from either direction on Ellendale Avenue; the church is located on the east side of the road. Look for the "VORP" sign on the northwest side of the building and ring the doorbell. If coming from Miller Avenue/Orrs Corner Road, turn north onto Fir Villa Road, and the church will be on your right. Again, look for the "VORP" sign and ring the doorbell.
Fees: Most community mediation services are provided at no cost. For parenting plan mediation, there is a $25 set-up fee from each party, with the initial individual interviews and the first joint mediation session offered free of charge. Subsequent sessions are billed at $50 per hour per participant on a sliding scale, ensuring no one is turned away due to financial constraints. For institutional or business mediation, the fee is $100 per hour, shared between the parties.
