About this resource
Flexible Services, often referred to as "flex funds," are supplementary non-covered services that accompany the benefits of the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) via Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs), aimed at enhancing care delivery and improving the overall health and well-being of members. The eligibility for these services is assessed by the CCO. Examples of services may include: -Housing assistance (such as rent help, rental deposit support [with a move-in date], utility payments, and housing programs for women and children) -Temporary motel accommodations (for individuals transitioning from the hospital, facing severe weather, needing a short-term place before moving into a new home, or fleeing domestic violence) -Devices like cellphones and computers -Educational resources and classes -Family and home support (e.g., child health and safety items, parenting programs, household appliances, climate control devices) -Gym memberships and fitness classes/equipment -Health and substance use prevention assistance. All flexible services are evaluated individually by the CCO. These services are not designed for emergency situations, and CCOs are not obligated to provide them. Since flexible services are not covered benefits, denials cannot be appealed, though OHP members can file complaints.
Intake Procedure: For information, call or visit the website. There is no mandated timeline from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) for CCO to review requests for flexible services, and processing can take four weeks or longer after submission.
Fees: None.
