About this resource

The Employment Related Day Care program (ERDC) provides financial assistance for child care to families who are employed, attending school, or receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), which also covers registration costs.

Application Process: You can apply online, via phone, or in person at a nearby ODHS Self-Sufficiency Branch Office.

Location: Accessible via TriMet bus line 67.

Costs: As a subsidy program, ERDC requires many families to contribute a portion of the child care expenses, known as a copayment (copay), which varies based on family size and income.

Who can use this

  • Eligible families must: -Reside in Oregon -Be working, in school, or receiving TANF -In two-parent households, both parents should be working or studying (not applicable for TANF recipients) -There are exceptions for cases where one parent cannot provide care due to health issues or state-mandated supervised contact -Require child care to maintain employment, education, or engage in family well-being activities -Have a child who is: -A US citizen or qualifying non-citizen, -Under 13 years old needing care, or -Aged 13 to 17 requiring care due to special circumstances -Meet specified income thresholds, with initial limits at 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and ongoing/exit limits at 250% FPL.
