About this resource

Climate Support is a health-related social need (HRSN) service available through the Oregon Health Plan. This service includes devices designed to protect individuals during climate events. The covered devices are intended solely for use in the member's home or primary residence and may consist of: -Air conditioners, heaters, and air filters for maintaining clean air and comfortable temperatures -Mini refrigerators to preserve medications during power outages -Portable power supplies to run medical equipment like ventilators when the power is out. Members are eligible for HRSN climate services only once in their lifetime.

Who can use this

Members of Umpqua Health Alliance must satisfy all of the following criteria: -Have a qualifying living situation for HRSN services -Have a health condition that complicates or endangers them during climate events -Reside in an area with electricity -Be capable of using the device safely. For air conditioners or air filters: -Must not already possess an air conditioner or air filter -Must have received medical assistance within the last 12 months from OHA, ODHS, or Medicare -Must be at risk for heat-related illnesses due to being 65 years or older, being a medically fragile child, or having a medical condition exacerbated by heat or smoke.
