About this resource
Under Utah law, birth parents have the option to relinquish custody of their newborn anonymously, without incurring any legal repercussions. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24/7 is recognized as a Safe Haven where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) will then arrange for the child to be placed for immediate adoption.
Who can use this
- The newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or someone authorized by her.
