In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring legal penalties. Hospitals that operate 24/7 are recognized as Safe Havens where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently facilitates the immediate adoption of the child.
Who can use this
- The newborn may be left at the hospital by the mother or someone authorized by her.
