About this resource
This program provides monthly financial assistance to both adults and children with disabilities whose income and resources fall below designated financial thresholds. Washington State additionally offers a state supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance programs.
Intake Procedure: Individuals can either call to arrange an appointment at a local office or complete an application online. Those applying for SSI will be prompted to indicate if they wish to apply for food benefits, with options to select the Basic Food Benefits plan or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program) benefits.
Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- Eligible clients for SSI benefits include low-income individuals aged 65 and older or those younger than 65 who are blind or disabled, while WASHCAP is available for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, have no earned income, and either live alone or prepare food separately from others in the household.
