This program offers care coordination and support related to pregnancy and parenting, including home visits for individuals on Medicaid and first-time parents. It also provides assistance to families with children who have complex medical requirements.
Intake Process: To schedule an appointment, call the service. Visits can occur in the clinic, at a client's home, within the community, via phone, or through video calls. Participants in Family Ways can either call or access the website to self-refer at kingcounty.gov/familyways/enroll.
Costs: There are no fees involved. The service only bills WA Apple Health (Medicaid) and is provided at no cost, meaning it is not billable.
Who can use this
- First Steps: Applicants must be receiving or eligible for WA Apple Health (Medicaid). The Nurse-Family Partnership is designed for low-income pregnant individuals expecting their first child and their infant up to age 2. The Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs program assists families with children aged birth to 18 who have complex health issues or newly diagnosed conditions requiring support. Family Ways welcomes all families who identify as part of three community groups (Native American/Alaska Native, Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian, and U.S. born Black/African American) from pregnancy through age 5, with no income cap. Participants must reside in King County.
