About this resource

This program provides monthly financial assistance to adults and children with disabilities whose income and resources are below designated financial limits. Washington State also contributes an extra supplement, and participants automatically qualify for Medicaid and food assistance benefits.

Intake Procedure: Individuals can either call to set up an appointment at a local office or apply online. During the SSI application process, applicants will be given the option to apply for food benefits and can select between the Basic Food Benefits program or WASHCAP (Washington State Combined Application Program).

Fees: There are no fees associated with this program.

Who can use this

SSI benefits are available to low-income individuals aged 65 and older or those younger than 65 who are blind or disabled. WASHCAP is specifically for SSI recipients who are at least 18 years old, do not earn income, and either live alone or prepare food separately from others in their household.
