Community Resource

Serves: Kirkland, King County

About this resource

This initiative provides seasonal financial support to households that meet income eligibility criteria for their heating and energy bills; individuals can call or visit the website to make an appointment, and there is no requirement for overdue bills or shut-off notices. Additionally, a limited number of air conditioning units are available for those who qualify for LIHEAP this season.

Intake Procedure: If your power has already been disconnected or is scheduled to be within the next 24 hours, clients should email a copy of their disconnection notice or call their local Hopelink main office, where they will reach voicemail. It is important to leave a detailed message including: Name, Phone number, Shut-off date, Name of utility provider, and energy account number, if applicable. PSE HELP can be applied for online without needing an appointment. If power is still connected, clients can apply for LIHEAP using one of the following methods: Scheduling an appointment for either an in-person or phone consultation. To do this, visit the website or call the Energy Assistance Appointment and Information Line. The website is the recommended option as it allows for quicker access to appointments, showing a complete availability calendar and allowing clients to select their preferred date and time. The phone line only provides the next available slot and is automated, so calls can be made at any time, day or night. Clients should listen carefully to the recording and note down all necessary documentation for their appointment. Both the phone and website draw from the same pool of available appointments, with new slots released every Monday at 9 am. If appointments are fully booked, clients should try again the following Monday. When scheduling, clients can choose between a phone or a limited number of in-person appointments. Appointments cannot be made through the main office line. During a phone appointment, the specialist will inform clients of the documents needed. If clients have already submitted a mail-out application, they do not need to schedule a phone appointment. If unsure, it is advisable to schedule a phone appointment where a specialist can assist with the application process.

Fees: None.
