King County Metro Transit'S Accessible Services At Customer Service Office
Community Resource
About this resource
Access Transportation offers transportation through lift-equipped vans for individuals whose disabilities hinder their ability to use standard public transit bus services independently; advance ride requests are essential.
Intake Process: To begin, visit the website for a self-assessment before applying, or call to request an application. Utilizing the website is recommended for a quicker and more efficient experience. There are no application fees, and transportation is available to and from the in-person functional assessment. For accessible information, call or email, and translators for various languages including Amharic, Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese are available when contacting the Access Paratransit Certification public line.
Costs: Monthly pass costs $63, while a one-way fare is $1.75. One companion can accompany the eligible rider for the same fare, and additional fare-paying companions may join based on availability. A non-fare paying personal care attendant (PCA) can accompany an applicant if certified during the eligibility assessment.
Who can use this
- Residents of King County with disabilities that prevent them from independently using regular accessible public transit can apply for paratransit services, requiring an application, verification from a healthcare professional, and an in-person evaluation. Eligibility notifications will be sent within 21 days after all necessary information is received. Having a Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP) does not impact eligibility or fare rates. Residents outside King County in the Puget Sound Region can apply for local paratransit services with reciprocal access, while visitors with disabilities from outside the area can access temporary services.
