About this resource
This initiative links veteran families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of losing their housing with permanent housing solutions. It employs housing stability plans that may incorporate short-term financial aid and various supportive services.
Intake Process: To get screened, contact the Catholic Community Services office or Coordinated Entry, or participate in a screening event: The Veterans Housing Option Group (VHOG) gathers every Monday at 1pm, excluding holidays. Locations include: Pierce County: 1323 S Yakima Ave, Tacoma, 98404 (Catholic Community Services Main Office); Thurston County: 4232 6th Ave SE, Suite 201, Lacey 98503 (Lacey Veterans Services Hub); Kitsap County: 3200 Rainshadow Ct, Port Orchard 98366 (Kitsap Community Resources).
Cost: There are no fees associated with this program.
Who can use this
- To qualify, a veteran must have at least one day of active duty service beyond basic and advanced training, a discharge status that is not dishonorable or due to felony misconduct, and meet the low-income criteria (at or below 50% of Area Median Income). The program also extends eligibility to individuals who were married to a veteran and have recently become widowed (within the last 12 months).
