Head Start (Payette) - Wicap

Head Start is a comprehensive preschool initiative available across the nation for children from income-eligible families, managed by local nonprofit organizations. It caters to children aged 0 to 5 years, prioritizing families whose income falls below poverty thresholds. The program also accommodates a limited number of over-income children with special needs. Services are provided at no cost and include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service requirements. Families must provide proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start offers a variety of supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disability support, dental care, and transportation. The program aims to enhance the lives of children, families, staff, and the community by addressing life's challenges through quality education and family-centered services. It operates five days a week for 12 hours each day, providing four meals to children and encouraging parental involvement through volunteering. Additionally, it supports families with educational resources, including positive parenting classes, and offers services in both English and Spanish.
