About this resource
This initiative offers assistance to individuals and families who are in jeopardy of becoming homeless due to eviction notices or utility problems, as well as support in preventing foreclosure. Services encompass mediation with landlords and utility companies, referrals, and access to safe, affordable transitional housing. Households receive guidance on debt restructuring, creating reinstatement plans, foreclosure prevention tactics, loan forbearance, managing household finances, securing rental subsidies, understanding landlord and renter rights, navigating the eviction process, and finding alternative housing options. Financial aid includes help with security deposits, rent payments, and overdue utilities and rent. Transitional housing is available in Almond and is designated for those at risk of homelessness.
Intake Procedure: Applicants must fill out a homelessness application. For more details, call or visit the website. In case of emergency housing needs under Code Blue, contact the Emergency Housing Hotline for the Allegany County Department of Social Services.
Fees: There is no fee; rent for transitional housing is determined based on income.
