About this resource
This initiative provides financial aid to families with children who are economically disadvantaged, aiming to help them achieve self-sufficiency. The cash assistance is designed to cover fundamental necessities like food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. Participants in the TANF program may also have the opportunity to engage in the Jobs Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which facilitates obtaining a high school diploma or GED, along with job readiness and essential life skills.
Intake Process: Applications can be submitted online, via phone, or in person at a local office (note that Processing Centers do not provide in-person services). After submission, the local DHS office will reach out to schedule an in-person or phone interview. Applicants may also contact the local DHS office to arrange their interview. It is important to note that DHS workers cannot leave messages on voicemails that do not include the applicant's name in the greeting.
Costs: There are no fees associated with this program.
