The following housing initiatives are managed: -Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program: As of April 2018, pre-applications for the waitlist are being accepted, with a wait time of 12 months. -Family Self-Sufficiency Program: This program assists Section 8 recipients in acquiring education and job skills to achieve financial independence. -Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program: Offers support for Section 8 recipients towards their monthly mortgage payments. -Low-Rent Public Housing Program: Provides rental housing that is federally subsidized. -Farm Labor Housing: Supplies housing for both active and retired agricultural workers. Additionally, the program addresses complaints related to Section 8 and public housing initiatives.

Who can use this

  • -Low-income households; applicants from outside Malheur and Harney Counties must live in either county for a year before moving to another county. -Farm labor housing is available for domestic agricultural workers, including those involved in fish and oyster farms and on-farm processing; retirees and disabled individuals from agricultural work are eligible; must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Laborers handling raw materials are also eligible.
