About this resource
Options counselors guide individuals in making educated choices about long-term care by evaluating their strengths, needs, preferences, and specific circumstances. They offer insights on support strategies, action plans, and methods tailored to the available community options. Options Counseling can serve as an independent service or lead to Older Americans Act Case Management (OAA), which assists those requiring ongoing help to maintain independence. Care coordinators play a role in problem-solving, advocacy, and connecting participants with resources and community support to improve their quality of life and plan for the future.

Who can use this
- Eligible participants for Options Counseling include individuals aged 60 and above, adults with disabilities, veterans, and their family members or caregivers, while OAA is available for those aged 60 and older.
