About this resource
Head Start services are designed to enhance school readiness by fostering the social and cognitive development of children within a classroom environment, while also providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other essential services to both children and their families. Emphasis is placed on parental involvement, with services available for parents that include goal setting and support, parenting classes, and networking opportunities. Additionally, Head Start is provided at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in collaboration with the Oregon Department of Corrections, where teachers assist incarcerated mothers in bonding with their children, acquiring parenting skills, and preparing for their roles post-release.
