About this resource
The Earned Income Tax Credit, known as EITC or EIC, is a financial benefit for individuals with low to moderate earnings. To be eligible, applicants must fulfill certain conditions and submit a tax return, even if they owe no taxes or are not obligated to file. The EITC can lower tax obligations and may provide a refund. Many states also offer their own versions of the EITC to complement the federal program, following the same eligibility criteria. Those eligible for the EITC may also claim Oregon's Earned Income Credit (EIC), which is 8% of their federal credit.
